Permanent Eyeliner Styles pg 2 |
Permanent makeup eyeliner accents are bright colorful swipes placed alongside the standard eyeliner. It is best used in small doses. You can get too much of a good thing. Accent colors may be used to match, contrast, or deepen color of eyes. The accent color can also be used to bring out certain flecks of color in the iris. A great way to brighten and pick up the eyes is to apply the eyeliner accent on the upper outer half of the top eyelid, and on the outer third of the lower eyelid rim. The accent is tapered in toward the center of the eye. The lower lid accent is a shade lighter than (or a tint of) the upper lid accent. The accent can be colorful tones like lavender, or light earthy tones like golden brown. The cosmetic tattoo eyeliner accent can be obvious, or so subtle that it does the job without anyone realizing it. Edges of eyeliner can be defined, softened, smoothed, or a faded smokey / smudgy top. Defined permanent eyeliner looks like liquid eyeliner. The edges are sharp and clear. With softened permanent eyeliner, the edges are lightened and blurry. Smoothed is gradually lightened in slight/small steps while maintaining a clean tailored edge. A smokey effect / smudgy is similar to eyeliner shadowing. This smudgy/smokey/shadowing is the look you get when you apply eyeliner pencil, then take your finger and wipe it - smearing it out. It looks like eyeshadow on the edges. Since smokey effects and eye shadowing are dilute concentrations with less pigment implanted to achieve the look, expect it to fade off faster. Full eyelid permanent eyeshadow (the way most people consider eyeshadow) is not the same as an accent. The accent is just a dab of color. Endless combinations can be used. How about stacked and graduated with a faded off smokey top, or a slab of sheer eyeshadow on the top edge. Lashline enhancement is a shading in the lashline for a thicker appearance of eyelashes. Call it a barely-there eyeliner. It is not doing anything to the eyelashes themselves. Eyelashes can be dyed and permed, but that is not what this is. It is also called eyelash enhancement, and it is also not transplanting eyelashes. Lashline enhancement is for people who do not care for eyeliner, but look bare without it. Some women like eyeliner on top only or bottom only, and would benefit using lash enhancement on the unlined portions. Because soft shades are used and less pigment is implanted for lash enhancement, expect it to fade off faster. Light enhancement is used for men. Many actors and male models have it done. Heavy enhancement would be used for females. Lashline enhancement is not suppose to be drawing eyelashes in the skin. This is the most ridiculously fake-looking thing to do. If you want thicker, longer eyelashes - and more of them, there is a lash extension application that glues individual eyelashes to your own eyelashes. 1, Lower eyelid rim tints can look soft or stunning. Light, sheer tints will brighten eyes, but dark or concentrated colors will make the eye look smaller - especially if nothing is done with the lashline. Color can be run just on the edge of the rim near the lashline, or cover the entire depth of the rim. Rim tints may be applied in 1/3, 1/2, 3/4, or full lengths like standard eyeliner. The spongy, wet tissue of the eyelid rim makes the tattooed color look translucent, almost glowing. It does not have the opaque appearance that topical eyeliner pencil has. You glow girl!
Upper eyeliner is usually thicker on the outer portion (flared out to the side) and tapers in toward the inner eye. Thinner upper eyeliner would be a # 5 thickness on the outer eye, tapering in to a # 3 thickness toward the inner eye. Thicker upper eyeliner would be a # 7 tapering in to a # 4. The upper lashline is a #4 thickness all by itself, so to see any eyeliner on top of the eyelashes you would have to at least have a #5 thickness. Some eye shapes may need a domed or other application style. The upper eyeliner begins in the lashline plus a little on top according to client preferences on thickness. Because part of the thickness is in the lashline, it does not appear as thick. Women usually only count what they see on top of the upper eyelashes. Be clear about how much eyeliner you like to see on top of the upper eyelashes. A considerable portion of pigment placed in the upper eyelid lashline is lost initially and over the years, compared to pigment placed around/ above/ below/ beside the lashline. The reason for this disappearance of pigment in the upper eyelid eyelashes is that pigment granules near the large diameter eyelash follicle shafts may be removed by the accessory glands of the shaft. Normally, the pigment size is too large to pass through to the circulatory or lymphatic system for removal. With laser tattoo removal, the laser breaks the pigment into smaller particles that are then removed by the body. Very little pigment is lost in the lower eyelid eyelashes. The loss is usually not even noticed on the bottom. Larger quantity is lost in the upper because the upper eyelashes are coarser, more numerous, and more densely populated. Lower eyelid permanent eyeliner runs through the lashline. In most cases it is applied a little thicker and darker on the outer third, tapering in thinner and softening toward the nose. Thinner lower eyeliner is a # 3 thickness on the outer third tapering in to a # 2. Thicker lower eyeliner would be a # 4 tapering in to a # 3 or # 2. The lower lashline is a #2 thickness. A skinny #1 line looks like a suture running across and does not look natural. A full line for the lower permanent eyeliner is to the first lash toward the nose (punctum or tear duct area) - not all the way into the inner corner of the eye. Eyeliner applied all the way to the inner corner does not look good (example on the next page) and the corners of the eye have a high risk of smearing out - more so in the inner corner. A full, 3/4, 1/2, or 1/3 length line may be applied according to client preference and eye shape & size. Combinations such as 1/2 length eyeliner followed through with lash enhancement is an option. The pigment is lightened at the stopping point toward the nose for a natural-looking drop off. |
